According to CHP on May 19, 2017 at 1 AM Christopher Lane (21) of Hayward was driving a 2013 Ford Mustang on Independence at a high rate of speed. Noah Tidwell (19) of Roseville, was a passenger in the back seat.
As Lane came to a curve to his left, he lost control of the Mustang and allowed it to run off the roadway, where it traveled through two wire fences and then collided with a large pine tree before coming to a stop.
Lane was wearing a seatbelt, but suffered major injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Modesto Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Tidwell was not wearing a seatbelt and also suffered major injuries. He was also flown to Modesto Memorial for treatment.
Lane was arrested for alleged DUI including causing injury to another.
