According to Calaveras Sheriffs officers, on Sunday April 8, 2018 at around 5:35 PM they received a 911 call about a motorcycle down near Hwy 26 just west of Mokelumne Hill.
CHP responded and fire/medics also arrived on scene. CHP contacted the Sheriff's Office and advised that the injured male rider appeared to be the victim of a gunshot wound.
Sheriff units responded to the scene to conduct a criminal investigation. Hwy 26 between Mokelumne Hill and Paloma Road were closed throughout the night as they worked the scene.
The victim was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas but did not survive. The identity is being withheld pending next of kin.
