According to the CHP report, on August 20, 2019 at approximately 1:20 PM Benjamin Luther Beck (47) of Copperopolis was driving a 2003 GMC Sonoma on Copper Cove
Drive at an unknown speed.
For an unknown reason the GMC left the road and collided with a power pole, resulting in the death of Beck, despite the efforts of emergency personnel.
The body was turned over to the Calaveras County Coroner. No passengers were in the vehicle. At this time alcohol and or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision.
