According to CHP on August 5, 2019 around 8:40 AM Andrew Futterman (30) of Concord was driving a
2006 Toyota Prius on Hwy 4 near Stockton Road in Angels Camp at an unknown speed.
James N. Curl (51) of Vallecito was driving a 2009 Dodge truck in the opposite direction at an unknown speed.
Apparently Futterman crossed over the solid yellow line to pass another car. Curl tried to swerve to miss the oncoming Prius, but was unsuccessful and they struck head-on.
Both parties were flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Alcohol and or drugs were not a factor in this collision. Unsafe passing was the cause, per CHP.
