San Andreas Artwalk & Wines on Main July7th

   The Calaveras Arts Council & the Center for Creativity in Community are collaborating with the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce to create a new happening in San Andreas on July 7th 2012. Calaveras County is rich with artists who are inspired by the natural beauty of the Sierra foothills and quaint historic towns, and it has blossomed as a unique wine region with delightful varietals.

Enjoy the fruits of our region in San Andreas, our county seat. Together these three local organizations are bringing the first ever Artwalk & Wines on Main to San Andreas.

   The Center for Creativity in Community, located at 23 West St. Charles (On Hwy. 49 near Main St) will be hosting an open house and art show from 11 am to 7 pm. Enjoy art in the gallery, art in the garden, art for kids, live music, food and fun. This unique center's mission is to provide a gathering place in Calaveras County for people of all ages to explore and express their creativity regardless of their ability to pay. Walk the Dragon Labyrinth, tour the charming Victorian house and new ceramics studio. Find out about ongoing classes and services provided by this wonderful new organization.

   Gallery Calaveras, located at 22 Main Street in San Andreas is the home of the Calaveras County Arts Council. Sizzling Summer will be opening in the gallery with an artists' reception for your viewing pleasure. Participants are busy creating 9, 8x8" blocks to the hot, summertime theme. The gallery will be open from 11 am until 7 pm, with the reception starting at 1 pm. There will be live music and refreshments served. Gallery Calaveras includes a wonderful retail section of unique art gifts. Outside, on historic Main Street, you will find Plein Air painters at work amidst the wine tasting and music provided by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce, which will be happening from 4 – 7 pm. The gallery will be open all day.

   The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce will present Wines on Main as a delicious finale to the first annual San Andreas Artwalk. Wines on Main will be an open air Wine Tasting Event where people can stroll along the historic Main Street and visit with our local Winemakers and Wineries and taste the very best of Calaveras Wines from 10 Calaveras Wineries. Tickets can be purchased for unlimited tasting for only $20.00. Appetizers prepared by the Black Bart Inn's Chef Mayron will be served as well. People may stroll the historic street tasting wines and food and view the art produced by local artists and watch Plein Air artist demonstrations. Richard Matranga, a local smooth jazz musician will play all afternoon for the event. Wines by the bottle or the case will be on sale during the event.

   Tickets will go on sale on May 25th and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street, San Andreas, or at the Calaveras Arts Council.
