We have had many question why black bear are being seen as low as Copperopolis? Well, Bear Mountain is very close to Copper, you know.
And Black Bear are not Grizzlies, so calm down!
Every time someone calls the cops when they see a wild animal, another wild animal is killed..Was the animal hurting you?
These are not the humane people, who gently remove a bear to a safe place. Most people don't realize that
And besides, the real killers, hunters, are all over in the mountains, trying to kill the bear, the deer, etc., so they run to the lower elevations for what they think might be safety.
But there truly is no safety from humans, is there? People call in fear as if they had escaped from a zoo, not like this is their home, too!

I get your point however wild animals are generally more dangerous than zoo animals as they haven't lost their hunting instincts. There's nothing wrong with being afraid of a wild animal however make sure you call the right people.
Black bears hunt apples, not people and are even more afraid of us than we are of them. Watch out for a female with cubbies tho.
