Two Change Orders for $215,000 for Jail

Everyone who bids for huge government contracts knows that the MONEY is in the CHANGE ORDERS.

On Tuesday October 9, 2012 agenda is two more Change Orders for the new Jail, totaling $215, 000.

There is no way to avoid it, it appears to be built in to the system. They even budget for it!

Wasn't this supposed to be a well thought out project? Where were the engineers?
One informational thing about this project, we find out how lacking the decision makers are in capital improvement projects. It is a good thing that a 7.5% contingency fund was put in place for all the change order requests. What happened to the statement "construction costs are down" before it was put out to bid?
Sierra Sentinel can you find out how many people have worked on this project? How many are or were local residents?
