16 days and Counting....

It has now been 16 days, or 2 weeks and 2 days since the Sierra Sentinel requested the list of gun permit holders in Calaveras County.

The Sheriff's department, according to the County Counsel's Office, demanded personal information, took the money, gave the money back, and has not given us any reasonable timeframe for turning over the information we requested.

It does seem that some people have more rights than the general public in Calaveras County, doesn't it?

Yeah, the one's with more rights are the criminals, who will use the information if you choose to release it, to target homes with no protection or target homes to steal a gun! If you get the information you want, be responsible and just list the total number of permits in the county, not locations! I do not see the advantage to the public to disclose the exact location of permit holders except for the liberal response of, " Well we have the right to know!" I know the First Amendment is protected but so is the Second Amendment! Be Responsible!
