C O2 hits record level

The chief greenhouse gas, the carbon dioxide pollution in the air just hit a scary milestone. Last Thursday, it measured 400 parts per million at the Mauna Loa monitoring site in Hawaii that sets the world's benchmark.

This is the symbolic mark that scientists and environmentalists have been anticipating for years. It sees there is no going back to totally carbon free air.
