$670,000 a year to maintain the Calaveras County Jail?

UPDATE:  These Supervisors can't stop spending money. They yesterday approved hiring Kitchell to maintain the new jail and Sheriff's Office for $670,000 a year. They can't stop spending us right into bankruptcy.

There must be some mistake!! On the Calaveras Supervisors agenda for February 25, 2014 is an item to approve giving Kitchell a contract for maintenance services for the new Jail and Sheriff's Office.

And what is the total when you add it all up? Why a MERE $670,000 a year is all. Is this Board of Supervisors insane, or what?

I just told someone about this and you know what they said, "Well, I trust the Supes to do the best thing for us." OMG. People are so ignorant. The last thing on their minds is US. They are paying back donors or friends of the family or someone they owe.

Shows how qualified and informed the BOS that proposed the new jail were.
With a $7.8 million deficit this year, where do they propose to create the money to pay these new jail maintenance and repair costs?
Answer: one half cent local tax, increase the TOT tax, raising of county fees, just to name three.
Calaveras County where the BOS looks like a bunch of chickens with their heads lopped off, running around.
What is the favorite two words of politicians? TAX and SPEND! Citizens, are you prepared to pay more and receive less?
No wonder why all the upper echelon government folks retired in the past couple of years.
OOOOPPPss, it's an election year too!

Talk about "ANTICS'. A four/fifths vote was not attainable during the first vote. Like Spellman's vote for chair, it was put off until after the mid-year budget hearing. Again, Supervisor Wright was dissenting, even to hold another vote. He was questioning if the jail & Sheriff's office maintenance was going to be privatized, rather then being done by county employees. I'm not sure if he realized the cost of the county doing it was far beyond the bid on the table. Supervisor Wright ran up his union flag. An oddity, former D-2 superviosr Wilensky was in attendance. I wonder if he gave Wright the Wilensky moral support to act the way he did.
In the end CGL/Kitchell's bid was approved.
Makes one wonder if Supervisor Wright wants the new jail to open. A suggestion was made to Wright to do a tour of the jail facilities. He response was to the effect, that he wasn't going to work there and had no need to see or understand the complexities of the facility.
The question: Will he attend the ribbon-cutting ceremonies?
