Peter Frank Val - Angels Camp native

Peter Frank Val, an Angels Camp native,  passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 13, 2014.

Born on October 5th, 1926 in Angels Camp,
he lived in Angels Camp his entire life except for his time in military service.

Peter was a man who loved to laugh and was most happy with his friends and family having a good time.

Peter was a man of integrity and will be missed by the many people that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maria and John Val of Angels Camp and his half-sister
Louisa Ahearn of San Francisco.

He attended local schools in Angels Camp and graduated from Bret Harte High School. He had many friends from school that he remained in touch with over the years.

He proudly served in WWII and was stationed in Japan, being honorably discharged from the Army at Camp Beale, and then returning to his hometown.

Pete worked at the Safeway Store in Angels Camp after the War. He was also a part Owner of the Altaville Market with a group of his business associates.

He worked at the Altaville Store for 45 years before retiring.  He always had something humorous to say to everyone who walked through the door and people felt like they had always met a new friend by meeting Peter.

His personality really left a mark on people with his good natured humor.   When he wasn't working Peter liked to travel and make trips over the hill to Tahoe and Reno with his friends and family.

He was also a member of the Angels Gun Club for many years.

Peter is survived by his sisters Josephine Anderson of Galt and Nilda (Rocky) Quinones of Angels Camp. Also surviving him are his nieces Roberta Babbes of Newcastle, Maria Anderson of San Ramon, Kathy Quinones of Angels Camp and nephews John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska and Russell Anderson of Galt.
