Deer killed in collision

On February 24, 2014 Colleen Brodie (54) of Mokelumne Hill was driving her 1994 Saturn with Jenny McGinnis (28) of Mokelumne Hill as a passenger.

They were headed northbound on N. Railroad Flat Road north of Ridge Road at approximately 35 MPH, when a deer ran from the side of the road directly into the path of the Saturn.

Brodie was unable to take evasive action when the deer jumped in the air and collided with the Windshield.

After the collision, Brodie moved her vehicle to the shoulder. The deer sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

Brodie was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center by American Legion Ambulance for treatment of her injuries.

There is no indication drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
