UPDATE: We just emailed the Sheriff's Office asking for a comment on the record about the problem relayed to us about women in his office. This is very concerning to the Sierra Sentinel, and we will publish his response when we receive it.
Last week we wrote an article about the apparent disarray at the Calaveras Sheriff's Office. We had no idea how bad things had become.
A call to the office dispatch for a complaint and request to speak to a Lt. about a Sgt. over the weekend went totally without response. NO COMPLAINTS ALLOWED????
And then last evening we called dispatch for a deputy in Ebbetts Pass. After three calls, a deputy finally appeared; 2 and a half hours later.
We were told they had some serious problems and urgent calls in the area. Well, this morning we looked at the Daily Log.
Not only were there NO URGENT calls during that time period, but not one of our calls was logged in. NOT ONE. We had been told that things like this were going on, but we didn't believe it could be true.
Political motivation?? Most likely!! This is Calaveras County after all. Known widely as one of the most corrupt counties in the state politically, we should not be surprised.
How long will they get away with it? Probably until the voters realize what is going on and we elect a new Sheriff? How long will that be????

You know, he's seriously ill. He has a tremor in his right hand and should retire. He's simply not able to do the job
OMG...how come nobody told the public about this before? He should just retire and get medical held. Maybe he's had his hair dyed too many times.
Hhhm, doesn't surprise me. This has been going on for a few years. Also, are you aware that the office folk can't even speak or do their job legit without being called "stupid c****!" by our shoe shine haired sherriff. I think the grand jury needs to be called in on the corrupt BS. In fact while they're at it investigate elections and some of the other departments.

I know he has no respect for women. One time he told me "I will even hug a FAT woman". Something needs to be done about this.
7 cops were arrested for embezzlement in KIng City yesterday, including the chief. corruption is rampant in law enforcement and elected officials unfortunately.
Everyone down here knows that even a death threat was trashed to protect his criminal friends.
I'm more than a little concerned about two things. The Sheriff's treatment of women and whether he is really sound of mind and body enough to be Sheriff.
You can't be surprised that he treats women bad. Look at the low-life's that he hangs out with.
I heard there was a grand jury investigation ongoing, but the grand juries are so political, that its unlikely they will do anything.
That's the final straw for me. I will not support anyone who any woman claims lack of respect for. that's number one.
ya know. I did hear that he writes negative things over email with his buddies. That's intolerable these days.
Well, I met the new guy running for Sheriff. His name is Pat something. He is amazing. Acts like a Sheriff, and he's about a foot taller than our current one. I really like him.
