UPDATE:   We just received information that the name of the victim who was fatally injured in the Jeep accident over the weekend was Joseph Austin Estevan of Hughson.

UPDATE June 30, 2014 at 8:30 AM:  We just received information that the driver (18) and a passenger Dallas P. Casqueira (17), both of Hughson, were riding in a 1994 Jeep Wrangler
northbound on Forest Road SN01 returning to their Eagle Meadows campsite at 10.30 PM from Relief Reservoir.

For an unknown reason the driver (name withheld for notification) turned the Jeep to the right and collided with a rock causing the vehicle to overturn.

As the Jeep was rolling over, both parties were ejected from the vehicle as neighter one had their seatbelt on.

Both parties were thrown away from the vehicle but as the Jeep continued to roll, the Jeep rolled onto the driver.

The Jeep then came to rest on its side.  Passenger Casquiera suffered minor injuries, but was able to walk to a cabin in the area and asked for assistance.

Emergency crews were called and responded to the scene.  CPR was administered until paramedics arrived and took over care of the patient.

Due to the injuries that the driver sustained, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Casqueira was taken to Sonora Regional Hospital with pain in the neck and back.

The accident is still  under investigation and at this time it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
