On June 16, 2015 a resident on Bald Mountain Road in West Point reported explosions are shaking the house.
Resident indicated someone may be mining in the area and that it should be monitored and brought before the Board.

No mining in the area. See the Facebook page "Mother Lode Mystery Booms." After a booming incident, there will be several postings from individuals with locations ranging from Jackson and Sutter Creek to Wilseyville and West Point to Copperopolis and Angels Camp and Arnold. Folks will post from Amador and Tuolumne Counties as well. All these folks will post within moments of each other, strongly suggesting that they are ALL hearing the same booms. These booms, whatever they are, are happening on a regional basis, and do NOT represent localized mining.
