Five injured in West Point Collision

   According to the CHP report, on June 1, 2015 at approximately 4:05 PM Brittany Stinnett (17) of West Point was driving a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo eastbound on Hwy 26 east of Sandy Gulch Road in West Point at around 55 MPH.

   Ms. Stinnett and the right front passenger were wearing their lap and shoulder safety restraints. All three of the rear passengers were unrestrained.

   Ms Stinnett realized she had traveled into the opposing lane and turned back to the right abruptly, losing control of the vehicle.

   The Chevy traveled off the paved protion of the roadway where the right front of the Chevy struck a large tree.   The Chevy came to rest facing a westerly direction on the south shoulder of the roadway. 

   Brittany Raferty (16) of West Point, Billy Raferty (18) of West Point and Andrew Garcia (16) of West Point were transported by air ambulance to Modesto Memorial, Sutter Roseville and Sutter Amador Hospitals with major injuries.

   Brittany Stinnet was transported to Sutter Amador Hospital with minor injuries and Andrew Alverado (17) of West Point was transported to Sutter Amador Hospital with minor injuries.
  One passenger was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.  One passenger and the driver were transported to local hospitals by family members.

   Alcohol and or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision, per the CHP report.
