Gerald Ogletree of Valley Springs.

      Gerald Eugene "Gene" Ogletree, 77, of Valley Springs died May 25, 2015. He was born in Dumas Texas to Virgil and Lottie (Roy) Ogletree.

    He received a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Sacramento State. In 1955 he married the former Rosamond Kibbe in Yuba City. They have two children.

   Mr. Ogletree joined the California Army National Guard in 1955 and served with honor and distinction, rising to the rank of Sargent First Class.

   Mr. Ogletree was employed by General Mills for 37 years. He started in the Lodi plant, and after earning his degree  he was transferred to the engineering department.

   He was transferred to the Minneapolis Corporate Headquarters for four years where he traveled over 1 million miles to different General Mills plants.

    In 1974 he transferred back to Lodi and became the Cake Mix Plant Manager.  Due to his extensive knowledge and years of service he was called Mr. Betty Crocker.

    Gene was an active member of the Tri-Dam Lions Club in Valley Springs.  He served in many roles and worked on many club projects. 

     He was actively involved in the United Way campaign at General Mills each year.  

   Gene leaves his beloved wife Rosamond; his son Kent and wife Stacy of Mountain Home; daughter Kelly and husband Patrick of Valley Springs; sister Penny and husband Allen of Paso Robles.

    He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Garland.

   Funeral Services were held at St. Andrews Church in San Andreas on May 30, 2015. Memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer's Association http://www.alz.org.
