On June 14, 2015 at 4 AM Calaveras Sheriff deputies were dispatched to 11700 Wade Lane at Lake Camanche campgrounds for a report of a man shooting a gun into the air.
Deputies arrived on scene and contacted several campers who described the shooter as a large bald man, wearing a white t-shirt.
Campers advised that the suspect had been talking about gangs making "pop sounds", and later followed with a real gunshot.
Deputies contacted Angelo Esquer nearby and placed him under arrest. A search of Angelo Esquer's person was conducted, yielding methamphetamine and a switchblade knife.
Deputies also located a small semi-auto handgun located in the nearby area.
Angelo Esquer was transported and booked into CCSO Jail for alleged Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon, willfully Discharge Firearm in Grossly Negligent Manner, Public Intoxication, Carry Switchblade Knife on Person, Prohibited Possession of Ammunition by Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance: Bail is $32,500.
