Stanislaus National Forest fire engine rollover

   On July 12, 2015 around 7:30 PM, according to the District Office of the Stanislaus National Forest Service in Sonora, engine #346 was involved in a vehicle collision with an SUV on Hwy 168 near Shepherd in Clovis, as they were en route to assist with a fire in the Sierra National Forest.

   The engine rolled over and all five firefighters in the engine, were injured, but are now in stable condition.   Derek Sodon sustained serious injuries and was flown to Community Regional Hospital in Fresno.

    Ben Jongeward was also flown to Fresno with moderate injuries. Lee Sands, Brittany Dowden and Ryan Baker were treated and released from St. Agnes Hospital. Baker was re-admitted later for additional treatment.

    The private citizen was also reported to have minor injuries.  The District wants to remind everyone about the Move Over Law regarding emergency vehicles.
