Speeding car crashes into home

On November 5, 2015 around 2:15 AM a silver Mitsubishi Galant was traveling at a high rate of speed on 6th Street in Ceres and failed to stop at the stop sign at the Caswell Avenue intersection.

The Mitsubishi crossed Caswell Avenue onto the front yard of a home in the 2400 block of Caswell Avenue.

The vehicle then struck a raised planter, per the report, launching the vehicle into a bedroom where an 8 year old boy and his 27 year old father were sleeping.

The Ceres Police and Fire Departments arrived and rescued the father who was trapped under the car.

The boy was removed from the room by family members.  Both were rushed to local hospitals.

The boy suffered from a broken femur. The father sustained two broken legs, burns, cuts and internal injuries. They were both critical but in stable condition.

Officers at the scene followed a blood trail from the collision scene to the 2500 block of Caswell Avenue.  It is suspected either the driver or an occupant was picked up by another vehicle.

Officers are working tirelessly, per the report to identify the driver and determine the cause of the collision.  Speed was a contributing factor. However, they have not established if alcohol was involved.

The Ceres Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about this incident to please call Keith Kitcher at the department  209-538-5620 or dispatch 209-538-5712.
