Fatal collision in LaGrange

According to CHP on October 14, 2016 at approximately 7:35 PM Nicholas A. Goins (32) of Jamestown was driving a 1986 Toyota on Hwy 132 eastbound near Bonds Flat Road, on a wet roadway in LaGrange.

Franklin Harp (45) of Coulterville was driving a 2007 BMW on Hwy 132 westbound when Mr. Goins  allowed his vehicle to travel into the westbound lane directly in the path of the BMW.

The two vehicles collided in the westbound lane where the BMW came to rest. The Toyota continued to trael off the road to the north of the lanes, down a steep embankment and came to rest in a grassy field.

Subsequent to the collision, the Toyota became fully engulfed in flames.  Mr. Goins received fatal injuries as a result of this collision.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.  The cause of the collision is still under investigation, however, DUI may be a factor.

Mr. Goins was taken to Heuton Memorial Chapel and Mr. Harp was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
