According to CHP on October 9, 2016 at approximately 3 PM Richard Wilmshurst (61) of Angels Camp was driving a 2006 Ford pickup on Appaloosa Way north of Pinto Drive in Angels Camp at around 55 MPH.
Wilmshurst traveled onto the dirt shoulder and lost control of the pickup, colliding with a barbed wire fence before rolling over.
Wilmshurst was pulled from the vehicle as a small grass fire ensued, which was shortly extinguished by fire personnel.
Wilmshurst was taken to Modesto Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
Alcohol and or drugs did not seem to be a factor and the collision is still under investigation, per the report.
