The elected officials at the Board of Equalization, such as George Runner in our district, will be soon losing both power and employees.
As of January 1, 2018 4400 of the 4800 employees at the BOE will be moved to the new Department of Tax and Fee Administration, which will take over sales and excise tax collection.
Runner complains that this will be more expensive, but we only see the set up of the new offices as any additional expense. The employees are the same.
Sorry, Mr. Runner, but you will soon be a NOBODY. You never helped us anyway. Hopefully, they will also take away your salary. Now that would be a big savings, right???
