According to CHP on December 9, 2018 around 1:45 AM Barry Godwin (26) of Burson was driving a 2005 GMC pickup on Milton Road, south of South Gulch Road at an unknown speed.
Just north of South Gulch Road, Godwin failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. The pickup traveled across the southbound lane and onto the west shoulder, where he veered sharply to the right.
As the pickup came back onto the roadway, it overturned several times an went off the east roadway edge before coming to rest on its roof.
Mr. Godwin succumbed to his injuries at the scene and the body was released to the Calaveras Coroner.
The collision is still under investigation. It is unknown if drugs and or alcohol were a factor.
