According to the CHP report at approximately 2:15 PM on December 9, 2018 they received communication of a traffic collision on Hwy 26 near Sport Hill Road in Mokelumne Hill.
Officers responded to the scene and discovered Richi Pierce (54) of Stockton, who had been riding his 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle at an unknown speed, deceased at the scene.
It was determined that Mr. Pierce had failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove off onto the right shoulder and collided with a tree.
He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries as a result o the collision. The body was released to the Calaveras Coroner.
The cause of this collision is still under investigation, including the exact time. It is believed that it occurred between 10:30AM and 2 PM.
It is also still unknown if drugs and or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
