Mountain Lion in Downtown San Andreas

The Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to residents that a large mountain lion was seen in downtown San Andreas around 11:30 PM on August 14, 2012.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the San Andreas Cemetery on Pixley Avenue for a report of a person walking around with a flashlight.

   While searching the area
the deputies came face-to-face with a large mountain lion. The mountain lion charged one of the deputies but did not make contact.

The animal ended up running away. California Department of Fish and Game were advised (after the deputies changed their pants), and stated that they would notify their officers of the contact.

No follow-up information is available.  This is a public advisory to be mindful of your surroundings and the saftey of family members and pets, especially while walking at night.
