Letter to the Editor....About Council Districts

   Dear Sierra Sentinel:

After reading your article about Anaheim dividing into City Council districts, I thought maybe Angels Camp is too small.

Then I saw the articles about the City Council meeting, which I did not get to see on TV, and I change my mind.

We do need to divide the Council into districts, so that each councilperson is reponsible to their voters.

For instance, if Raggio had to answer only to his neighbors on the annex, he would be in big trouble in the next election.  He never seems to do anything, anyway.

Altaville could also be a district.  Then Greenhorn, and Old Angels Camp could also each be a district.

I believe the voters would be better served and residents might get more involved. What is the average age on the City Council now?  90?

Would the Sierra Sentinel see if they can get the council to consider this move, for the benefit of the people?

    Thank you for your consideration.

     R.T.

What a great idea. Why haven't they done it before? The old part of angels gets ignored, and especially the annex, except for special favors like the one mentioned. I'm all for splitting into districts.
