5-13-13: CHP just released more information on the traffic accident on Horseshoe Drive, near Hwy 4 in Copperopolis yesterday atound 3:30 PM.
Luke Van Vliet, 15, of Ripon, was driving a 2007 Dune buggy ATV on private property in a dirt field.
Van Vliet tuned the Dune Buggy to the right to follow a trail, which caused the Dune buggy to roll over on to the drivers side.
As the Dune buggy was rolling, Van Vliet stuck his left arm out of the ATV in an attempt to stop the vehicle from rolling.
The vehicle continued to roll, ending up on the drivers side.
VanVliet was transported to Sonora Regional Hospital with major injuries.
