July 18, 2013 at 7:50 AM: Called the Mountain Fire, which started on July 15, 2013, this fire is burning in the San Bernardino National Forest.
We received an update about 30 minutes ago that the size of the burned area is not 22,800 acres and the cause is still under investigation.
Evacuations notices for Idyllwild and Fern Valley are in effect. Around 6000 people have had to leave their homes. Several have already been destroyed.
This fire is only 15% contained at this time.
