When Mayor Filner told the press that the City would have to pay his legal fees for the alleged harassment
lawsuits filed, we figured the government and therefore, taxpayers always pay for legal screw-ups if its elected officials.
Not this time, though! The San Diego City Council not only voted to reject Filner's claim for free law representation, but they have now sued him too!
There is good reason, since the City of San Diego can very well be deemed responsible and have to pay out in these lawsuits.
And now the City is claiming that his $10,000 trip to France last month that he said was paid for by a non-profit Iranian-American group is not shown by the IRS to be a non-profit organization.
