July 24, 2013 at 6:40 AM: According to CHP, Michael McPhee (32) of San Andreas, was stopped in a vehicle and 2011 Chevy pickup at the end of his driveway, preparing to make a left turn onto Poole Station Rd..
Michael Thein (26) of San Andreas, was driving his 2004 Suzuki on Poole Station Rd. southbound, south of the Oneto Ranch at a high rate of speed.
McPhee stated that he was stopped, with windows down, looked both ways, and did not hear or observe any oncoming traffic.
McPhee then proceeded to turn left onto northbound Poole Station Rd., when he suddenly observed Thein coming southbound, over the crest of a hill, at a high rate of speed.
Thein applied the brakes sharply and skidded into the left front corner of the Chevy pickup, sustaining fatal injuries as a result of this collision. He was pronounce dead at the scene.
