Letter to the Editor....About Calaveras Sheriff

   Dear Editor:

I had to think about it for a couple of days, but decided the public had a right to know.  I live around the Big Trees subdivision above Arnold.

The other day, police cars, Sheriff, CHP, Angels PD, and many unmarked cars and emergency vehicles permeated our subdivision.

We spoke to someone who told us it was due to a reported suicide at one home, where a man was found dead.

Why there were so many law enforcement , including what appeared to be a bomb squad and some kind of hostage cops. It looked absolutely ridiculous.

Not only did they block off the streets for some time, but it made my wife and I mad. When residents call for a deputy in the Arnold area due to a burglary, the Sheriff tells you just make a report online, that they don't have enough officers to handle things.

After reading about the what was it 10,000 man hours to catch the boy in Rancho Calaveras, I began to wonder about the judgment capability of our Sheriff.

Then I spoke to several people I knew who stated they have had a similar problem. If they have no officers, where did all these cops who appeared here for what turned out to be unnecessary, come from?

You are correct, Sierra Sentinel, that there is something wrong at the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department, and I would add,  some of the other departments, too.
