Letter to the Editor...Stand your Ground

   Dear Sierra Sentinel:

I want you to know that I really appreciated your up to the minute coverage of the Trayvon Martin killing trial of Zimmerman.

Now that its over, the country needs to look at these "Stand your ground" laws. Did you know that in states where these laws were passed that white on black killings have tripled. And prosecutions are practically non-existent?

Are black teens safe walking alone at 7 P in the evening at all?  I don't think so. And in this county, with all the racists living here, it could be even more dangerous. Believe me, I know some of them!

These racists have come out from under their rocks to try and get rid of President Obama, and they are the ones who carry and use weapons.

I know that my family is afraid of these "Zimmerman"s" too, and we aren't black. These low-life racists are scums in America should be shoved back under their rocks where they belong.

It seems to me that these "Stand Your Ground" laws were written just for them. Your word against a dead black person is taken by police as sacred.

Enough to make you sick and ashamed to be living in a country that allows this?

great letter, Ed. Personally, I consider racism to be a mental illness.

As far as that trial went, it was all about white against black all the way.

The jury was hardly representative of the community!
