You really must watch the Calaveras County Sheriff's debate of Garrahan vs Kuntz online or on Channel 7 or 9 if you have Comcast.
It started out with the current Sheriff saying I "was", I mean "I am the current Sheriff." Oh, my, what a Freudian slip!
It gets even worse from there on. Everything that the current Sheriff said, Pat Garrahan rebuked, whether it was about AB 109 or the Calaveras budget deficit. And he had the facts and figures to back up what he said.
It was so embarrassing and the current Sheriff's face got more and more haggard as the debate went on. One person said it was like he had a "hangover".
Finally, Pat Garrahan, a Marine veteran, with a Masters Degree, who not only looks, but sounds like a Sheriff, said he would be "honest with the public" and not "embarrass" the county.
That really says it all. Whether it is personal knowledge the Sierra Sentinel has about his outright dishonesty or the scandal that could break any time, this County needs more honor and respect and we are NOT getting it with the current Sheriff.

I saw it last night. Simple decision. Garrahan IS a Sheriff, the way a Sheriff is supposed to be.
You know, Gary started off ok, but lost his way. NOt sure if its his drinking or what, but he OFTEN lies about things.
He's stooping so low now and just to get re-elected. I think its all going to come out. And soon.
What is funny is in his rebuttal to the DSA was they were not backing him because they didn't get new cars. Funny, in his interview with Steve Crane he says they got 5 new cars.
