Daryl R. MIllsaps of San Andreas

   Daryl R. Millsaps, who would have been 82 on June 20, 2014 passed away at his home in San Andreas on June 4, 2014.

   Darul was born at his family home in Willows on June 20, 1932, the youngest of four children of Aura and Marian Millsaps.

   Daryl graduated from Glenn County High School in 1951 and shortly thereafter served four years
in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

    He serve as a Disbursing Clerk at Moffett Field in Sunnyvale and on two different aircraft carriers (the USS Yorktown and the USS Wasp) before being honorably discharged.

   On June 26, 1955 he married his beloved wife, Rita Martin.  After his Naval service he worked at the Sani-Food Market as a butcher's helper and at a small title company owned by Francis King, who was a neighbor and his former teacher.

   The Tuttle family purchased the title company in the late 1950's.   They asked Daryl and his young family to relocate to San Andreas in 1960 where he became manager of Calaveras Title Company.

   In the  1980's Darul and Rita purchased Calaveras Title Company from Richard and Sally tuttle.

   Daryl was preceded in death by his son Michael Millsaps, his parents, a brother Donald (Esther) Millsaps, his sister Tharon (Paul) Brummet and a grandson Samuel Edgar Owings.

   He leaves behind his wife of nearly 59 years, daughters Kathleen (Tim) Johnson of San Andreas, Marian (Rob) Owings of Winshester, Virginia, a son Larry Millsaps of San Andreas and 7 grandchildren, Michael (Dara) Johnson of Oakdale, Christiana (Kurt) Roberts of Scotts Valley, Danial Johnson of Selma, Kaitlyn, att, and John Millsaps of Calaveras County, Chloe Owings  of Winchester, Virginia and one great-grandson Cal Michael Johnson of Oakdale.

    Daryl loved spending time with his family, pheasant, duck and deer hunting, the title business and being an avid fan of sports (especially ones in which his grandchildren were involved).

   He was a member of San Andreas Community covenant Church where he held several different offices over the years.

   He will be missed by family and friends.  Private graveside services will be held on June 21, 2014 followed by a celebration of life at 11 AM at San Andreas Community Covenant Church at 261 Treat Ave in San Andreas.  There will be a catered luncheon following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to give to your local church, Hospice of Amador and Calaveras or the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Calaveras County.

   San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
