Traffic Accident on Old Don Pedro starts Hetch Hetchy Fire

According to CHP Sheila Monaghan (65) of Sonora was driving a 2001 Lexus northbound on La Grange road south of Old don Pedro and was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway.

The Lexus left the roadway traveling in the dirt culvert and embankment before colliding with a large boulder.

The Lexus overturned and landed on its roof in the northbound lane continuing across the roadway and coming to rest on the right side of the vehicle in the southbound lane.

Monaghan was transported to Sonora Regional by ambulance for visible lacerations to arms and complaint of pain to neck.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this collision.  This collision did start a grass fire which is currently called the Hetch Hetchy Fire and is currently being maintained by Cal Fire personnel.

Any further information related to fire needs to be addressed through Cal Fire.
