George Daniel Hunt of Angels Camp

Born June 18, 1929, George Daniel Hunt went to his eternal home with Jesus on April 30, 2016.  He was 87 years old.

George was born in Stockton and grew up on the Hunt ranch outside Linden. He attended Bellota Elementary School and Linden Elementary, finishing his education at Pasadena.

George served as a military police officer during the Korean War. After his service he worked on the family ranch and walnut orchard until 1970 when they sold the ranch and moved to Angels Camp where he built his family home.

George drove a logging truck and had the handle of "Grumpy Bear". He enjoyed driving truck, trains, fishing and doing puzzles with his granddaughters.

George was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Hunt and step-daughter Debbie Bailey.

He is cherished and survived by his family:

Marilyn Hunt, his wife of 45 years, daughter and son in law Shelley and Tony Lambert of Angels Camp, step-sons Greg (Terry) Davis of Ione, Roy (Joan) Davis of Santa Rosa and adopted son (grandson) Daniel Bailey Hunt of Modesto.

George was also greatly loved by his grandchildren Zachary, Mikayla, Elissa & Katelynn Lambert, Mindy & Kenny Davis, Cole Davis & Chelsea (Jaron) Stroud and 10 great-grandchildren.

George was blessed with meeting his last great-grandson Elijah Kai Lambert in February of this year. He will be greatly missed.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa. He was an overall kind man who is now made new again with his heavenly father.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 14, 2016 at 3 PM at Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp.

Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
