CHP report: Three vehicle collision on Hwy 26

   Per CHP on August 19, 2016 at approximately 11 AM Steven Taylor (33) of Valley Springs was driving a 2005 Dodge westbound on Hwy 26 in Rancho Calaveras, approaching the rear of a 2015 Ford driven by Robert Rush (73) of Valley Springs.   Mr. Rush was driving eastbound on Hwy 26 approaching the intersection with Driver Road.

   The third car, a 2004 Chevy was driven by Samuel Kirk (37) of Lathrop, who was eastbound on Hwy 26 approaching the Driver Road intersection.

   Per the report Taylor observed Rush stopping and applied his brakes, however was unable to stop in time and the front of the Dodge struck the rear of the Ford.

    That collision caused the Ford to travel to the left and the front of the Ford struck the driver side of the Chevy.

   After the collision, the involved vehicles came to rest blocking the intersecton.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.

   Linda Kirk, (64) of Lathrop, a passenger in the Chevy,was transported to Doctors Medical Center with moderate injuries.

   Patricia Rush (71) of Valley Springs, a passenger in the Ford was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton with moderate injuries.

   The others refused transport for their minor injuries.
