On August 20, 2016 Richard Galantine (62) of Lodi was driving a 2002 Toyota westbound on Hwy 12 and was stopped for a vehicle making a left hand turn onto Messing Road ahead of him.
Steven Douglas (16) of Burson was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Hwy 12 behind Galantine.
Douglas applied his brakes but was unable to stop before the front of his vehicle struck the rear of a trailer being towed behind the Toyota.
The force of the impact pushed the trailer forward and struck the rear of the Toyota.
Following the collision both of the involved parties drove their respective vehicles to the right shoulder of Hwy 12.
Galantine was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for minor injuries. Per CHP drugs and or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in this collision.
