According to the Calaveras Sheriff, around 7:10 AM on February 13, 2017 they investigated a report of a burglary at the CCWD Water Treatment Plant in Valley Springs.
Deputies learned that multiple tools were taken including a 2008 Ford 350 truck with a utility bed. It was located at 1:15 PM, and took chase.
The vehicle initially complied and stopped on Quail Oaks Road. The driver drove away when deputies attempted to make contact.
Stop and chase continued for 20 miles and turned over to CHP in Wallace. They terminated their chase for safety reasons. The vehicle was later located in Valley Springs.
Octavio Hernandez (24) was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged felony counts.
