Logging Truck not at fault in Hwy 49 collision

   According to a CHP report, Jay Stufflet (29) of San Andreas was driving a 2005 Ford Focus on Beverlynn Lane at an undetermined rate of speed approaching Hwy 49 in Mokelumne Hill.

   Clifford Stormes (62) of Grants Pass, Oregon was driving a 2014 Kenworth Logging truck on Hwy 49 at the speed limit.

   Stufflet reportedly entered Hwy 49 without allowing yielding the right of way to Stormes. Stormes was unable to avoid a collision and the front of the Kenworth impacted the drivers side of the Ford.

   Stufflet was flown to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries. His passenger Teri Neikirk (33) of Sonora was flown to Doctors Medical Center with moderate injuries.

   The driver of the logging truck was not injured.  Alcohol and or drugs are not considered to be a factor in this collision.
