According to CHP, on January 10, 2013 Jennifer Moulton (18), of Valley Springs was driving a 2002 Saturn on Hartvickson Lane at a speed in excess of 55 MPH.
Due to Moulton's intoxicated state, per CHP's report, she allowed the Saturn to leave the right side of the roadway and travel onto the west shoulder of Hartvickson Lane.
As the Saturn traveled on the west shoulder of Hartvickson Lane, the right front of the vehicle collided with a tree.
The force of the collision caused the Saturn to continue traveling south on the west dirt shoulder of Hartvickson Lane, where the left front of the Saturn collided with a different tree.
The force of the second collision caused the Saturn to roatate in a counter-clockwise direction and come to rest on the west shoulder of Hartvickson Lane facing a south-easterly direction.
A CHP officer arrived on scene and conducted a DUI investigation in conjention with an accident investigation.
As a result, Moulton was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and subsequently booked at the Calaveras County Adult Detention Facility.
Moulton was determined to have caused the collision by driving the Saturn in violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(A)--"It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug , or under the combined infuence of any alcoholic beverage and drug to drive a vehicle."
