Assemblyman Bigelow Agrees with Governor Brown

Today, May 14, 2013, Assemblyman Frank Bigelow (R-O'Neals), chair of the Legislative Rural Caucus, issued the following statement in response to Governor Brown's May revision of the 2013-2013 state budget proposal:

"Today, I'm glad to hear the Governor continue to call for fiscal restraint and prudence in the state's budgeting process," Bigelow said.  "When budgeting for the future, I think it's common sense for any small business or family to not spend more than it takes in and our state should be no different."

Bigelow said that lawmakers want to work with the Governor to ensure adequate funding for education, but expressed concerns about his plan to reform the way the state gives money to K-12 schools.

"As a lifelong rural Californian and a local elected official, I've always been committed to education for rural California students," Bigelow said. "I want to work with the Governor to make sure that rural schools and rural education programs get a fair shake in the budgeting process.  We must make sure that not all of our education resources are sent to urban California."

Bigelow also highlighted his support of the conservative projections made by the Governor for state revenues.

"With tax revenue down and California's economy seeing a slow recovery due to Sacramento's burdensome regulatory climate, the Governor made appropriate conservative revenue assumptions today," Bigelow said.

" I hope that my colleagues and I can come together to reduce the overload of regulations on California's small businesses and allow them to once again grow and thrive at the highest level possible."

What is Assemblyman Bigelow's view toward Proposition 13?
What is his view towards the SCA's being passed in the state legislature, those amendments to the Constitution regarding parcel taxes?
Specifically, the lowering from 2/3's vote to 55%?
Is he for or against the 2/3's vote requirement?

Heck, what are the BOS views on the 2/3's vote?
