Elderly woman killed in Valley Fire

UPDATE: We learned that the elderly woman who died in the Valley Fire was a retired schoolteacher. Very said to hear.

Apparently a couple of people were concerned about her, but by the time they called law enforcement, the Sheriff didn't have enough people to get to her quickly.

When asked, one neighbor said they asked if she wanted them to take her into town and they sated that she refused.
****************

It isn't clear why no one went to assist an elderly disabled woman in Middletown, Lake County, but Sheriff's officials say that she died as a result of the Valley Fire overtaking her home.

  Most all neighborhoods know
who the disabled elderly residents are in their area and try to assist them or call 911 to get someone else to help them.  This is a very sad death!

Apparently the Sheriff did receive a call for help, but arrived too late; the house was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
