According to CHP, on June 2, 2017 around 11:15 PM Richard Clarke (57) of San Jose was operating a golf cart while intoxicated, driving through a private olive orchard off Camanche Parkway at Lake Camanche.
As he approached the end of the orchard he made a left turn. His passenger, Debra Bedard (58) of San Jose, was holding two wine glasses and a Clarke made the left turn Bedard wa unable to stabilize herself.
Subsequently she fell out of the golf cart. The glasses she was holding broke and she landed on top of the shards of glass. Bedard succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Clarke was arrested for alleged 23151(A) VC--Driving under the influence.
