Fire in Tehama County-Ponderosa Fire

  UPDATE:  August 19, 2012 at 5 PM The Ponderosa Fire is now 12,000 acres with 0% containment. Massive evacuations are still taking place. The fire is now headed towards the towns of Shingletown and Viola.


   UPDATE:  August l9, 2012 at 7:40 AM  The Ponderosa Fire is now 7000 acres with 0% containment. Three thousand structures are now threatened. Four structures have been destroyed so far. Massive evacuations are taking place.


 At 11:30 AM today August 18, 2012, a fire was reported off Ponderosa Way, east of Manton. At 8:30 PM the Ponderosa Fire had burned 5000 acres and madatory evacuations were in progress 

   500 homes are threatened. All roads in and out of Manton have been closed to expedite evacuations. This is in Tehama County. There is 0% containment. The fire is headed towards Hwy 44.
