Calaveras County Still Owes $594,512 in Back Taxes to State

Back on the agenda of the Board of Supervisors tomorrow, April 9, 2013, is that $600,000 chunk of taxes that the State auditor found the County had not paid for 5 years.

Neither the Schools nor the Special Districts will be required to help repay the amount, which was totally mishandled by the previous auditor/controller.

Per the agreement with the State, Calaveras County must repay $200,000 per year for three years, beginning this fiscal year.

Apparently this money will come directly out of the General Fund.
