4-27-13: Yesterday, we received an advisory from the Calaveras Sheriff's Office about a fire
in Burson.
We sent an email to the Sheriff to thank him for providing a community service to residents of that area about fire activity.
The CalFire in Calaveras County has at least a 24 hours lapse before they send fire info. to the media.
And if you try to call them for info, well we all know what that is like. Weekends, FORGET IT!!
We informed Daniel Berlant, supposedly working directly under Mr. Pimlott, the CalFire statewide director that other rural areas provide the media with Twitter feeds and regularly let the public know what is happening in their area.
Mr. Berlant says THERE IS NO MONEY to Twitter information. He hints that the COUNTY needs to pay for that service.
CalFire has a Twitter account, and we all know that we, the public in a rural area have been scammed and forced to pay a tax per structure, NOT TO FIGHT FIRE, but to slash and burn our forests and our personal land, but they say they HAVE NO MONEY!!
This paltry excuse of Berlant's and we assume of all CalFire is a disgrace. The public has a right to know if there is a fire anywhere in their area, and we feel that CalFire has a responsibility to provide that information.
In other areas, one person with a smart phone, and NOT A CLERK, sends regular short Twitter comments on the status of any fire in their area, no matter how small the fire may be.
Mr. Berlant behaves as if the Union is in his pocket and he wants one person to get full pay for Twittering occasionally! That is insane, as is most of what CalFire does these days! They certainly no longer are highly trusted and respected in rural areas.
It may be that our respect for CalFire has dwindled so because of the extra taxes they've stolen from the rural property owners, but now they have more money than ever.
And what about all the money they hide? It's past time one firefighter out in the field of every call uses a Smart phone and Twitters information in Calaveras and Tuolumne County. NO CLERKS!!
We all know they have plenty of time to fool around, gossip and play. Don't lie, we've been inside a CalFire station, and the offices are worse.
Now its time they ante up and help out the public!! Community Service is no longer CalFire's strong suit. Ripping us off is!!

Everyone is mad at CalFire for what they've done and are going to continue to do to us. Most of us are afraid to say anything, because we think they will let our property burn down if we protest too loudly.
