Per CHP on June 12, 2017 around 3:15 PM Jared Salsbury (41) of Idaho Falls, Idaho was riding his 2010 Ducati motorcycle with three other motorcycle on Hwy 49 near the Mokelumne River.

John Mabery (56) of Auburn was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram in the opposite direction on Hwy 49, approaching the motorcyclists.

Salisbury had just passed a vehicle when he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle fell to its side and Salisbury was ejected onto the roadway.

The motorcycle and Salisbury both slid into the oncoming lane and collided with the front of the Ram.  Salisbury was pronounced dead at the scene and was turned over to the Calaveras County Coroner.

There aren't any passing lanes on that road but I constantly see bikes passing anyway.
