Per a CHP report, on January 3, 2019 around 1:35 PM Ryan J. Ireland (24) of Railroad Flat was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota on Railroad
Flat in Mountain Ranch.
CHP responded to the scene to find the pickup overturned. As a result it was determined that Ireland was driving the pickup at a high rate of speed, while using his cell phone.
Due to his inattention and alleged level of intoxication, Ireland failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, leaving the roadway, colliding with a power pole and overturning.
Ireland was transported to Mark Twain Hospital with major injuries and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, then was released to the hospital for treatment.
Railroad Flat Road was closed until nearly 7:30 AM January 4, 2019 due to this collision.
